Prevention Through Partnership

Trusted guidance makes the message stronger.

SparkWhyz was created to prevent dangerous decisions before they lead to a wildfire, injury, property loss, or emergency.

Working with the Laguna Beach Fire Department connects our youth-led outreach with experienced professionals who understand the fire risks facing our community.

Together, we can help students understand why illegal fireworks are dangerous, how quickly fires can spread, and why prevention matters in a community surrounded by dry hillsides, neighborhoods, and open space.

Fireworks Turn-In Events

A safer option before something goes wrong.

Fireworks turn-in events give residents a responsible way to surrender fireworks rather than keeping, hiding, or using them.

These events create an opportunity to combine public safety with education, youth outreach, and positive community participation.

SparkWhyz students can help greet families, share the pledge, explain the mission, and encourage safer choices.

Fire-Safety Messages

What students and families should understand.

Prevention begins with clear, practical, and memorable information.

Small Sparks Can Spread

A fire does not need to begin with a large explosion. One spark can ignite dry grass, landscaping, trees, rooftops, or nearby debris.

Illegal Fireworks Are Dangerous

Fireworks can cause burns, hand injuries, eye injuries, property damage, wildfires, and dangerous emergency responses.

One Choice Affects Everyone

A single decision can endanger neighbors, firefighters, animals, homes, schools, and an entire community.

Student and Firefighter Connection

Helping young people understand the human impact.

Meeting firefighters and hearing real safety guidance can make prevention more personal and memorable.

Students Ask Questions

Students can learn how fires begin, why certain conditions are dangerous, and what firefighters experience when responding to preventable emergencies.

Firefighters Share Experience

Fire-safety professionals can help students understand the real consequences of fire, emergency response, evacuation, and prevention.
